As much as I don't like Schilling sometimes, I'll give him this: he never shies from reporters' questions after a bad outing. He never tries to shift blame or talk about other players' performances (are you listening, Mike?) When he sucks, he mans up about it, and he sucked last night. “That’s embarrassing,” he said after the game. “I never gave us a chance. I want to walk around the room and apologize to everybody. . . . There’s just no excuse for a game like that to play out like it did.”
Agreed. I'm blaming it on the fact that NESN put up a graphic that
said Schilling had an ERA under 2.00 against the Braves since '98. What else could it be?
(Man, I'm so hoping it's not going to be as bad a road trip as I fear it could be. I really hope the Yanks don't shave another six games off the lead by the time the Sox get home...)
On a happier note, Coco Crisp finally gave us a glimpse of the guy we all thought we were getting last year (Curt talked to the press, Coco wouldn't. Go figure). 4-for-4, two homers...nice job, Coco. Too bad it couldn't help, but if he can rev it up and come anywhere near what he was offensively in Cleveland, that would be a huge boost.
Beckett goes for his 10th win tonight against Tim Hudson. As I recall, he's had his troubles with the Sox, who manhandled him last time out.
LET'S GO SOX!!!!!!!
